Nchiraa Waterfalls

The Nchiraa Waterfalls are located 30 kilometres north of Wenchi in the Brong Ahafo region of Ghana. The Nchiraa waterfalls are wedged between the mountains of the Nchiraa settlement.

History

In the early 2000s, Kofi Asiama, a hunter, discovered the waterfall through his tracking, which is about two kilometres into the forest. During one of the usual rural afternoon sittings at drinking bars, he gave an account of his expeditions, revealing an attractive depiction of a site he saw in the bush. Some residents who had visited the Kintampo Waterfall and acknowledged its recreational importance expressed interest in seeing the discovery in their own backyard.

The hunter, therefore, led a delegation to the place in 2004, and thereafter a management committee with Emmanuel Obour Adjei as chairman was constituted to, among other things, promote and possibly seek a strategic investor to develop the beautiful feature into a preferred tourism destination.

Nchiraa Waterfalls offers tourists a hiking adventure on a rocky and challenging footpath that leads to the waterfall. The existence of other natural and cultural tourism attractions within a 10 km radius makes the tour package exhilarating.
