Legon Botanical Gardens

Located in the heart of Accra, at the University of Ghana, are the Legon Botanical Gardens, a beautiful, dynamic outdoor play space for all ages where nature and fun collide.

This dynamic garden offers a variety of recreational activities for the public and continually adds new ones. The managers always give you a reason to visit again and again. The facility has a colourful first-class playground for children and a rope-walk session for them, also with genial staff.

What to do

High Ropes Course

An intriguing series of platforms connected by cable, wood, and rope, each presenting different challenges, is available for you to challenge yourself. It includes 4 routes of 64 games on two levels, with each route having a zip line. Activities include walking on suspended planks, climbing along rope mesh, swinging from one suspended log to another and many more. NB: Operators require all participants to be properly geared with sneakers/full closed shoes, trousers/shorts and hand gloves before being allowed up the ropes.

Children’s Playground

Do not miss the joy of watching your children challenge themselves as they navigate the junior ropes, trampoline, climbing jungle circuit with plastic slides, carousel, seesaw, 7.8m high 4-sided pyramid net climber, chin-up bars, 2- and 4-seat rotary wings, bird’s nest swing, and many more.

Canoeing

Ride on a canoe for fun and experience the thrill of water. Cruise around beautiful islands and peninsulas that serve as sanctuaries for birds and certain lizard species. NB Available from Fridays to Sundays & public holidays. Starts at 10:00 am and ends at 5:00 pm. Groups with 20 or more members must book in advance.

Canopy Walk

An opportunity to walk on the widest canopy walkway in Ghana with so much space for you to turn and have a great view from all directions. The walkway is 13m high and 138m long.

Watch migratory birds fly around the park.

Events Woodland

Are you looking for a place to host your events in the woods? They have ample space for you. Their woodlands have hosted big events such as the Year of Return‘s Jungle in the Park.

Other Activities Include Fishing and cycling.

The Gardens are located off Atomic Haatso Main Road at Agbogba Junction. Just about 5 minutes from the University of Ghana main entrance.

08:00 – 17:00 (Last Entry is 16:30): Opened Weekdays 

08:00 – 18:00 (Last Entry is 17:00): Opened Weekends & All Public Holidays. 

Sundays and Mondays: Administration is closed. 

Mondays and Tuesdays: Quiet time in the Gardens. (Facilities not in use)
