Experience our wonderful weather and vibrant culture,” he stated.
Boosting Domestic Tourism
Tourism Month, observed every September, features a variety of tourism-related activities and events such as festivals, musical concerts, and tours. The initiative aims to boost domestic tourism by encouraging Ghanaians to patronize prominent festivals and visit tourist attractions across the country. This year’s theme, “Experience Ghana, Share Ghana,” seeks to raise awareness and enthusiasm among both the tourism sector and the general public3.
Economic Impact
Ben Anane Nsiah, Deputy Chief Executive of GTA, highlighted the economic benefits of festivals and events, noting that they attract visitors who spend money on accommodation, local foods, beverages, transport, and entertainment. This, in turn, boosts the local economy through revenue generation and job creation, especially for the youth.
Looking Ahead
The month-long celebration will culminate with the United Nations World Tourism Organization’s World Tourism Day on September 27 to be commemorated in Sekondi, in the Western Region.
Conclusion
Tourism Month 2024 is set to be a vibrant celebration of Ghana’s cultural and natural heritage, encouraging both locals and tourists to explore and appreciate the beauty and diversity of the country. The initiative not only aims to boost the tourism sector but also to foster national unity and economic growth.
